The monthly activities listed in this page are being planned by the Sacramento Valley rose societies. For more information on a specific rose society, please visit that society's website and pay them a visit. Visitors are always welcome and most events are free to the public.

No general meeting is scheduled for January. Instead The Sierra Foothills Rose Society will be holding its "Annual Rose Pruning and Winter Care Workshop" on Saturday, January 12, 2008 starting at 8:30AM at Kroeger Hall.

McKinley Rose Garden Prune-A-Thon
Time: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM or until done; Pruning lecture by Baldo Villegas will start promptly at 9:00AM.

Activities: Local area rosarians and the public are invited to come down to McKinley Park Rose Garden and learn how to prune and help out on pruning this rose garden's 1300 rose bushes. Free tool sharpening for the workers or for a small fee to the public by Bill Humenick. Bring your pruning tools and help prune roses with fellow rosarians.

Great Rosarians of the World: William Radler
Date/Time: March 30 (Sunday) 2:30 p.m.
Notes:
The eighth in the lecture series, Great Rosarians of the World, will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2008, at 2:30 pm in Friends Hall. Our honoree will be William Radler, noted American rose hybridizer. Radler's Knock Out® series of roses are famous for extreme hardiness and disease resistance, so we are all looking forward to his talk.

Woodland Library Rose Club Garden Tour
Event:
The tour is Sunday, April 27 from 12 - 5 with a rain date of May 4. The cost is $20.00 ($15.00 for groups of 10 or more).

Seven (7) private gardens and two historic homes.
Lunches can be purchased for $8.50 and must be preordered.
Donations are used to maintain the Rose Gardens at the Woodland Public Library.
